It all started when…
On December 11th 2014, at Kelly’s Olympian in Portland, Oregon, THE THESIS was born. THE THESIS is a monthly music showcase featuring Portland’s premiere artists focusing on hip-hop and connected genres. THE THESIS is first and foremost a community; an open and accepting space for artists of any color, sexuality, gender identity, and religion. THE THESIS was born out of a history of over-policing at Portland hip-hop shows as well as a general lack of support of Black music and the Black community.
THE THESIS has given a platform to some 200 artists since 2014 and continues to be the premiere space to enjoy hip-hop in Portland, Oregon. Our stage has hosted future Grammy winners, touring artists from around the country, and even an NBA All-Star. That’s why people of Portland will tell you…
